pro- rogued to the 14th February.

On the morning of the 2d, M. de Pentigny, " en grand tonne," rode into the Place de in Concorde, and there read a proclamation of the Empire to the National Guards. His last words were " Vive Empereur !" No response. General Loweeatine, the Commander-in-chief, and a few officers near him, cried "Vive PEmpereur !" The National battalions stood like mutes.

At a sitting of the Upper Chamber of Prussia, Count Eittberg was elected President, by 76 out of 84 votes.
