Look again

Sir: Perhaps Royce Bradshaw in his letter `Look at Germany' (13 November), should take a second good look and straighten out the record. He has overlooked the fact that they pay millions (billions?) in hiring the armies of Britain and the US, plus their nuclear weapons to maintain their (among other's) defences. Pathetic or clever?

And who are the first to 'scream' when they propose to reduce their contributions? What would we do with 55,000 troops (and families) in Britain?

However, I heartily agree with his last sentence, though its direct connection with defence eludes me.

Economic miracles are usually generated by: the will—production—labour relationships and government for the people.
