We are glad to inform our readers that we hate been aUe to return in the present number of the "Spectator" to our former type and to the former sire of column. Owing to the shortage *paper we were compelled to snake several modifications.. The aUernative would have been fo print considerably less reading matter, or perhaps to have raised the price of the "Spectator." We wished to do neither of those things. Accordingly we determined to reduce the size of tine type in certain parte of the paper, and to trespass on our margins by making the columns both longer and broader. These changes, of course, made the "Spectator" less convenient to read ; but while we congratulate ourselves on hating emerged from the war without having had to raise our price or reduce our content* appreciably, we hare also to acknowledge with gratitude the indulgence which our readers hare displayed towards
the necessary changes. . _
