Political truths

Sir: In reply to Mr James Towler, who claims that Mr Heath's pushing of the truth angle proves two major points, I would state that he has omitted the most important point of all.

Namely that Mr Wilson did not tell the truth. Worse than that — he deceived the electorate with a collection of bitter frauds, of which the social contract is the most notorious, Incidentally, the casual reader of your columns would be quite justified in thinking that the Tory party in the country was 90 per cent Powellite, whereas in my experience only the truly 'lunatic right' consider his recent actions to be anything other than the frustrations of a desperate, foiled politician.
