OTHER NOVELS

Cling -of the Clay.— By Milton Hayes: (Hodder and Stoughton. 7s. 6d. net.)—It is not till this novel has engaged the reader's attention for - more than half its length as an ordinary industrial story of the North, that it suddenly develops into a murder mystery. Which section of the book is the more successful may be left to the reader's taste, but the latter part, with its detectives, coroners and trial for murder, all in order, is very ingeniously contrived.
