In the Court of Queen's Bench, yesterday, judgment was given

in favour of Mr. Lumley in his action against Mr. Gye for persuading Miss Wagner to break her contract with Mr. Lumley. Three of the Judges-Crompton, Erle, and Wightman-concurred in this decision ; Mr. Justice Coleridge dis- sented, on the ground that an artist who contracts to perform a specific work is not a "servant," and that in the present day the Court ought not to affect the unreal ignorance on such subjects which was imputed to the bench in ancient times.
