Sir: Theodore Dalrytnple's jaundiced views on the contemporary NHS are

so riddled with bias that it is difficult to know where to begin. In summary, he seems to be saying that the NHS used to be much better than it is now, getting rid of most of the man- agers would make everything a lot better, and audit is a waste of time.
