We deeply regret to record the loss of the P.

and 0. liner Maloja,' the largest vessel belonging to the company, which sank between Dover and Folkestone last Sunday morning after a violent explosion. It is generally believed that she struck a mine, though in the opinion of some persons she was torpedoed. A British tank steamer which was near by was also sunk, but without loss of life. The Maloja ' was bound for Bombay with over four hundred passengers. She listed rapidly, so that many of the boats could not be launched, and sank within half-an-hour. The number of lives lost was one hundred and fifty-five, including forty-nine passengers, many of them of course being women and children.
