A deputation of Irish Members were yesterday received by Lord

Morpeth. Their object was to induce his Lordship to alter his mea- sure on Irish Railways so as to apportion the 2,500,000/. between three great lines running North, South, and West, instead of giving it all to the Dublin and Cork line. Lord Morpeth strongly defended his origi- nal plan, but said, that- " If it would conciliate all parties in Ireland, and tend more, in the estima- tion of Irish Members, to the relief of the country, both with regard to the employment of labour in different parts and the promotion of trade, Ile should be willing to adopt the principle they advocated : at the same time, he could not pledge himself to any decided part without further information front Ire- land."
