Needless to say, the 51-year-old is my friend Mary McFadden, a lady who has

been described as eccentric by those who love her, and downright nuts by those who don't.

The 22-year-old is the Iranian stallion Kohle Yohannan, a polite if slightly effete ayatollah, known as an up-and-coming Walker. The last time I saw this modern Romeo and Juliet pair was in a downtown restaurant a couple of years ago. They seemed to be awfully chummy, and I was happy for them. Appearances, however, especially in the Big Bagel, can be decep- tive.

The young towelhead has filed papers in court charging that the fashion diva is a booze-addicted has-been who demanded rough and kinky sex during their stormy May–December marriage. 'She wished to be slapped around during sexual relations and desired group sex sessions,' was the way Yohannan's lawyer put it to the Manhattan Supreme Court.

Ms McFadden did not exactly take this lying down, no pun intended. 'He is a cheap toy-boy,' she countered, 'a complete flake, out of control, known to be homo- sexual, which we will prove.' For good mea- sure Mary filed her papers while charging her young hubby with non-performance. 'We never had sexual relations and I will seek an annulment.'

Mary I have known for 30 years and like a lot. She's rather ugly, but talented and smart. She also has a lot of the root of all envy. Inherited moolah. To say that she has attracted gigolos throughout the years would be an understatement. The young hubby I hardly know, but from looking at him I would make sure I didn't drop the soap in the shower.

What I suspect is that the lawyers have a finger in all the dirt. Nothing plays like a juicy scandal in Manhattan, and this one supposedly involves drugs, orgies, sado- masochism and things that cannot be men- tioned in as elegant a publication as this one.

Given the fact that she has the dough, he is the one claiming damages and wanting to be paid up. About 8,000 greenbacks a month, plus a half-million insurance policy, plus his lawyer's fees. Not a bad deal if it was for six months of non-performing. She has vowed to give him the kind of money Jeff Bernard contributes to AA each week.

What bothers me is what might emerge in court. Mary, you see, was once upon a time married to one Philip Harari, now hitched to one Diana, my brother's mother- In-law. The Hararis not only lead respec- table lives, they also take society rather seriously.

It would, of course, be a great pity if the towelhead somehow besmirches the repu- tation of such respectable people. Although the Hararis live in Knightsbridge and the case will be heard in the Bagel, my Spies tell me even the royals will be some- how involved.

Like the loyal hack that I am, I will keep You informed.
