THE MASTER OF BALLIOL ON MITRES.

[TO THE EDITOR OP THE " SPEOTATOR."] SIR,—Unless my memory plays me utterly false, the remark of the late Master of Balliol concerning Dean Stanley, that " if it had rained mitres, none would have fitted his head," was an apt quotation from Lawrence Sterne, who thus de- livered himself on his want of preferment in the person of the immortal Yorick.—I am, Sir, 8to., A. PATCHETT MARTIN.
