. Admiralty, 1st October.

" Notice having been given in the London Gazette of the 1st of August last, to the effect that all Captains of the Royal Navy desiring to be placed on a retired list, on the conditions therein specified, should send in their names to the Secre- tary of the Admiralty prior to the 1st October; and the officers who have sent in their names for consideration being sixty-one less than the number contem- plated, namely, three hundred; " My Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty, having reason to believe that owing to absence abroad and other circumstances, there are many officers who have not had the opportunity of making themselves acquainted with the conditions upon which the retirement is offered, are pleased to extend the time for receiving

names, from the let October to the 1st December next. H. CORRY."
