ORIENTAL JEWELLERY.

SIR,—May I be allowed to supplement the delightful and informing article on " Oriental and English Jewellery" in the Spectator of March 15th, by saying that the soft and gorgeous colours described in the following terms : " A bit of enamel in which the green is as bright as the emerald, the red as fiery as the ruby, and the whole as restful to the eye as a bit of turf,"—are produced by pounded emeralds and rubies being burnt in ? A recent visit to India enables me to vouch for the accuracy of this statement.—I am, Sir, &c., C. W.
