A memorial from the ieliabitants of Margate has been presented

to the Lords Commisek,mes of tile :1dmira1ty, on the subject of that port being selected as a refeete-lentlemr. It sets forth, " that during the recent storm, the Clan liee, 000 tons, from Madras, laden with rice,

indigo, and en: ton, lied the Westminster, 51 tons, from Singapore, laden with tea, are bolli stranded on tlte very site of the harbour pro- posed by the Parliamentary Committee ''; its,, " that a third vessel of equal calibre was drifting into the same bay," supposed to he the Equi- valent, of t;uutlerland, new on shore met,: Kingsgate. The object of the memorial is to 1,ring before their Lordships' attention these instances of the proof' of the propriety of' the situathm proposed by the Parlia- mentary Com etisLeitis, or of the neighbourhood adjoining, for the reception et the pleas eed herbour of refuge ; as the three vessels thus lost would, iii tilt prolability, have been sheltered and saved, had such a harbour been in existence.
