STATE-AID FOR VOLUNTARY HOSPITALS

No one familiar with Voluntary Hospital management would Wish for the latter, but none of us who are thus familiar, can deny that the present system of providing income fort maintenance is inadequate and needs assistance...

- The best suggestion that hiss ever been made for supplying, such assistance is. that for State-Aid in_ strict proportion with the amount raised annually by voluntary effort. One representative of the Government appointed tot serve on the Hospital Committee would appear to be the only: means -of State Control exercised. State-Aid for -Voluntary' Hospitals associated with --Voluntary Management • must not be confused with State-Maintenance associated with
