Mr. Cosgravc Lorely needs strengthening- against the enemies of his

own --homehold: Sir James Craig can be trusted to behave with dignity. and can indeed afford to do so. It is impossible to believe that, as the Six Counties are stilt plunged in industrial depres- sion, he wants- to have added to his anxieties border forays and riotings. It -should be remembered that Sir James Craig tried to come to a direct understanding about the boundary with Michael Collins. Mr. Cosgrave must devoutly wish now that that invitation had not been repelled. Sir James_ Craig. has a, right to athile, but we are thankful to believe that there is no malice in his smile.
