Is now Dean of St John's and Un versity lecturer in Philosophy. Labour MP for Berwick and East Lothia since 1966. Educated at the Universities Edinburgh, Oxford and Princeton, and the became a University lecturer in History an Politics, dividing his time between Scotian and Nigeria. His most recent book, publish in 1966, is Nigerian Politics and Corn ment.

Long-time Fellow of All Souls, Oxford. an also of the Huntingdon Library in Californi. Renowned far his somewhat unorthodo views on Shakespeare's sonnets, and, for th matter, on most subjects bearing upon co temporary life. A bachelor and dedicat Cornishman, he lists his pleasures as liste ing to music and sightseeing. And cats. H is a prolific writer, of poetry as well as hi• tory and criticism, and is currently workin on a history of the Elizabethan renaissance.

MICHAEL STEWART

Educated at Christ's Hospital and St John' Oxford. Became a secondary school teache and first stood for Parliament in 1931 West Lewisham—a firmly-held Conservatis seat and anyway a disastrous year fo Labour. Eventually became a candidate fo Fulham, which he won in 1945 and h occupied ever since. Was a Junior Ministe in Attlee's Government, and in Oppositio spoke first for Education and then for Loca Government. Became Secretary of State fo Education in 1964, and then moved to th Foreign Office. to which, after a spell wit Economic Affairs, he returned in 1968. R gards his career as having no setbacks othe than those provided by the electorate.

JOHN ROWAN WILSON

Born in Leeds, fifty years ago, and educat at Stonyhurst and Leeds University. Qualifi as a doctor in 1943, and then trained as surgical specialist. After publishing his fi novel in 1954, he left surgery to devote mo time to his writing. Has since had carve in business and medical journalism, and pu lished six more novels. Now Consultan Editor of World Medicine and Associat Editor of Tropical Doctor. Married with children but one Jack Russell terrier.

PEREGRINE WORSTHORNE

Educated variously at Stowe school. Magda len College, 9xford, and (needless to saY) Peterhouse. Cambridge. Was Times cones• pondent in Washington 1950-52, and then foreign affairs leader writer for them ntil 1954. Joined the Daily Telegraph as a leader writer and features Writer, and took the opportunity to travel extensively in Africa. Europe and Asia. Became Deputy Editor di the Sunday Telegraph in 1962. Has written book to be published shortly by Cas called, not improbably, The Socialist Myth.
