Son. (Bentley and Son.)—Much of the humour of these verses has inevitably evaporated. The allusions convey no meaning to the ear of this generation. Yet much remains. Mr. Barham had a certain extravagant fun in perfection, and few have equalled him in the marvellous ingenuity of his rhymes. Hero is an instance of his facility :—
