satisfy the shepherd who wants a text to prove to him that a Christian ought to meddle in politics ? St. Paul, writing to Timothy, exhorts that prayer should continually be offered for Kings and for all that are in authority. I am sure the Bible-studying shepherd will agree that saying prayer is not praying unless followed up by act. If we pray, "Deliver us from evil," we must depart from evil; if we pray, "Thy Kingdom come," we must seek first the Kingdom. It follows that if we pray for Kings and those in authority, we must assist and uphold them in their governance to the best of our power.—I am, Sir, &c.,
