Wit m Mr. Edward Carpenter takes part in a discussion

about Oriental and Western philosophy we cannot choose - but hear.- We owe him a debt Of gratittide for givInk us the extracts from private letters of the late Mr. P. Aritnaehalam to him, which have been published by Messrs. Alien and Unwin .under the title 'Light from the East (6s.).. The letters have no particular coherence : they are disjointed, discursive and altogether delightful. We find no tiresome 'argument so closely reasoned that we cannot escape it, but a sprinkling of wit and a great deal of wistom. The author was a gnana- yogi.
