Women in politics

From Mrs Betty Knightley

Sir: You note the vicissitudes that face a man of ability who seeks a political career in getting himself adopted, but you say nothing of those that face a woman in a likewise situation. Shame ! The Discrimination Bill was talked out in the Commons last Friday, but irrespective of your infringing such safeguards as it seeks for women, your pages over the last eighteen months in particular seem to have been silent about, let alone encouraging, to those women with talent to get cracking, as your so called enlightened journal should likewise do, over this grievous om mission. May be this would equally result in no nasty words blowing down Gower Street ?

I have the honour to be, Sir (!)
