Winds of change

CHRISTOPHER HOLLIS

His hopes, what wind of change can boost?

The bitter wind blows from the north, And every chick that ventured forth Is coming sadly home to roost.

A gentler breeze comes from the south, Promising joy. The sacred cow Sniffs at the ambient air, and now Picks up a dose of foot-and-mouth.

What hand dare raise the faltering cup?

The winds from west, the winds from east Add woe to woe for man and beast. His wind, whatever else, is up.
