Manifest truth

Sir: May I endorse Mr Kirk's endorsement (Letters, 15 December) of Mr Almond's words concerning the desperate plight of the Spectator's political stance? Are we to suffer the indignity of reading articles by 'free thinkers'? This venomous scum dare to assert their own opinions, instead of ac- cepting the superior judgments of their po- litical leaders. That these wise overlords are in a far better position to distinguish Good from Evil than any of us is made abundantly clear by Auberon Waugh's ar- ticle 'Dolphins' (Another voice, 15 Decem- ber). At the tender age of 18 I find it im- possible to hear even intelligent views that contradict the Conservative Manifesto without fearing that my ever so impres- sionable mind has been corrupted, that my moral fibre has been destroyed and that the revolution is at hand.
