NATIONALISING LIQUOR

Snt,—In view of the nationalisation mania I am surprised that no sugges- tion of nationalising the liquor trade has been made. Now that the production of most excisable liquors is at such a low ebb, it would seem to be an appropriate time to put the whole business of production and distribution, not only under State control but under State ownership also. Doubtlgss "the workers" would be delighted. After that, what

about tobacco?—Yours faithfully, WALTER R. BRACKENBURY.
