COMPETITION

Competitors are invited to use the ten following words, taken from the opening passages of a well-known work of literature, in the order given, to construct part of a narrative, essay, speech, advertisement, newspaper report or other coherent piece of prose Any number of words may intervene, to a maximum total of 150.

The words: moo-cow, lemon, wet, oilsheet, hornpipe, brushes, maroon, cachou, apolo- gise. greaves.

In addition to the usual prizes a special prize of one guinea will be awarded to the first entry opened that correctly identities the source of the words. One prize will be reserved for the best entry from those who are not previous prizewinners. Entries. marked 'Competition No. 508,' must be in by 15 July.
