My goodness, gracious, me

My electoral devices My opponents think aren't nice; Saying bribery entices Bureaucrats to count votes twice.

But Goodness, Gracious, Me; That's just democracy!

Such wild charges of corruption, Though the Court has found them true, Could cause national disruption, And, what's worse, upset me too.

My Godness, Gracious, Me; That's not democracy!

I must be my people's saviour, And protect them from the thug. To ensure their good behaviour, I've put critics all in jug.

My Goodness, Gracious, Me; That's true democracy!

The Mahatma's holy mantle Has descended now to me. My opponents I will cantle And rule now as a Queen Bee. My Goodness, Gracious, Me; Long Live Democracy! Basil Charles
