Time's Whisperings : Sonnets and Songs. By George Barlow. (B.emingtori.)—We

are glad to note ono great improvement in Mr. Time's Whisperings : Sonnets and Songs. By George Barlow. (B.emingtori.)—We are glad to note ono great improvement in Mr.

Barlow's verse,—it does not offend the moral sense. Otherwise we do not observe advance,—in fact, we can hardly suppose this to be a serious effort. The poetry is not without literary merit, but it is not

equal to what we have expected from Mr. Barlow's powers, when he should choose to exert them otherwise than in rebellion against accepted beliefs.—We have also received Are (Ale Anima Mia), by Meta Orred (Smith and Elder) ; Lays from the Land of the Gael, by A. L. Hildebrand (Belfast, McCaw and Co.) ; Hymns of the Church, Translated from the Original into English Verse, by the Rev. John Wallace, D.D. (Burns and Oates).
