* * Welcome to Sir James Parr, the new High

Com- missioner for New Zealand, who has just arrived in London to succeed Sir James Allen. Unlike Canada and the Irish Free State, the Dominion of New Zealand, according to Sir James Parr, as reported in the Times, has no desire to have its own ambassadors in foreign countries. The new High Commissioner served under Mr. Massey as Minister of Public Health, and subsequently as Minister of Education. Sir James Parr pointed out to the Daily Mail reporter that the policy of buying British goods had been definitely adopted by the New Zealand Government. He gave a recent instance when a British tender was accepted although it was nearly 15 per cent. higher than the lowest foreign tender. Sir James Parr was Mayor of Auckland when I was in New-Zealand. Like everyone in that city, he is fond of yachting, and no wonder, for Auckland has one of the most beautiful harbours in the British Empire..
