* * * - * As many Liberals notoriously deplore

the manner of Lord Oxford'S letter, Mr. Lloyd George may try to bring the dispute between himself and his chief to an issue. To-day M. Lloyd George might win, but a few days or weeks hence opinion may have changed. The papers of Wednesday published a letter to Lord Oxford, expressing the complete confidence in him of Lord Grey of Fallodon, Sir John Simon, Hr. Walter Runciman, Lord Lincoln, Lord Buckmaster, Lord Buxton, Sir Donald Maclean, Lord *Cowdray, and others. These are men who really know. As for the other members of the " Shadow " Cabinet, Lord Beauchamp seems to be neutral, and Di. Macnamara, Mr. McCurdy, and Mr. Masterman are on the side of Mr. Lloyd George.
