THE UNIVERSITIES, OXFORD.

On Thursday last the following Degrees were conferred :—Illantee of dfris—J. Graves, Oriel College. Bachelor of.,4rts—W. S. Davenport, Pembroke College. In a Convocation, holden the same cloy, G. R. M.Ward, M.A., Fellow of Trinity College, and Barrister-at-Law, was nominated, by letters-patent from thephancellor, Deputy Steward of the University, in the room of the fate Dr. Blackstone, Principal of New Inn Hall.

In a Convocation, holden in the afternoon of the same day, Mr: 1!.. Persil, Fellow of St. John's College, was elected a Vinerian scholar, in the TOM of Mr. Giles, of Corpus Christi College, who had resigned. On Friday last, the following gentlemen were elected Scholars of Carpus Christi College :—Gloucester, T. Pettey; Diocese of Exeter. H. S. Flight, and Cl. Barnes.

The Rev. E. Heawood, M.A. of Christ Church, Master of the Grammes School, Goadhurst, Kent, was, on the 25th of February, elected to the Mastership of the Grammar School of Seven Oaks, in the same county. - The Rev. H. Cotton, D.C.L. of Christ Church. and Archdeacow or Cashelr is ad- mitted ad coact= of the University of Cambridge.

CAMBRIDGE.

On Thursday last, the Rev. 'I'. Jarrett, M.A. Fellow of Catharine Malty was electPd Professor of Arabic, in the room of the Rev. S. Lee, B.D. now Regius Professor of Hebrew.

On Monday last, Mr. J. Hildyard, of Christ college, was unanimously elected University Scholar on Dr. Beattie's foundation.
