Pr. Maltby is to be the new Bishop of Durham

; • and Dr. Longley, Head Master of Harrow School, and son-in-law of Sir Henry Parnell, is to succeed to the Bishopric of Chichester. For both these appoint. moos, but more especially for the first, Lord Melbourne deserves well of the Liberals. Should half-a-dozen other sees become vacant, and be as well filled up, it is possible that the presence of the Bishops in Pal liainent may, while the transition state lasts, be regarded as an ad- vantage instead of an injury to the cause of good govermnent.
