ABNORMAL EVENTS. - Though winter has now succeeded spring-in-winter, some

of the past preemities of the season are worth recording. The red female flowers like hazel were open in Devon on Janu- ary 25th. A newly-laid starling's egg was found in Hertford- shire on February 16th, and a family of tits were hatched out in Norfolk about February 20th. In Devon blackbirds, great tits and chaffinches were all in song in January. A host of birds including woodpeckers were then engaged in preparations
