SIR,—In the issue of February 19th under the above title,

the author writes "our profession is the only one in which there has been no salary- increase of any kind to meet war-time conditions." In the interests of accuracy may I be allowed to point out that the clergy are a body to whom no war-time salary-increase has been paid? And, in fact, very many of them, especially in the more bombed and partially evacuated parishes, have suffered considerable decreases in their earned incomes.
