The Cruel River Several readers have sent in names for

the ship which I proposed should be moored off the Palace of Westminster for the accommodation of impecunious MPs, but few rose above the puerile. Mr. Nicholas Monsarrat is (just) worth quoting. He suggested " If she's a Union Castle Line boat—Poor Man's Castle. If CP,R—Impress of Britain. If a Conarder—Thania." The rest were mostly of what may he called The Saucy Mrs.' Braddock school.
