[To the Editor of the SPECTATOR.] SIR,-1 have read your

letter from a " Rural Dean ". with considerable- interest. Speaking only as a layman and a golfer I feel convinced, in matters of public worship, it is essential that people should come to church rather than that the church should come to them.

After all it is possible for golfers, if they feel inclined to play two rounds of golf on Sundays, to attend with convenience Holy Communion at 8 o'clock and Evensong later in the day. —I am, Sir, &c.,
