last week's Spectator reminds me of 2 Kings xvii. 33, where we read that the people whom the King of Assyria brought from Babylon into the land of Israel " feared the Lord and served their own gods "- a futile compromise ! • That a " Rural Dean" should suggest a similar one to the worshippers of golf will surprise many of your readers.—I am, Sir, &c.,
