Abortion

Sir: Please allow me to apologise for an error in my letter (April 14) pointed out by Madeline Simms.

I should have said that 10 schoolgirls aged 15 and under had second abortions last year not aged 10 and under. I obtained my information about second abortions for schoolgirls from a report in the Sunday People of January 14 which was quoting from figures released the previous day from the British Pregnancy Advisory Service of Birmingham.

The fact that 52,000 girls from Europe had abortions over here last year does not seem to me to alter the sad facts of this whole ghastly business so very well portrayed by Rachel Law in your latest issue. With the 52,000 taken away we are left with 105,000 British abortions and 105,000 is the population of York.
