The Arabian Nights' Entertainments. Selected and edited by Andrew Lang.

(Longmans and Co.)—No one could desire any- thing better than a volume of the Arabian Nights selected by Mr. Andrew Lang and illustrated by Mr. H. J. Ford. Mr. Lang tells us that the stories are the fairy and folk stories of the East dressed up in the proper clothes of the time and place. His choice is a good one, for what can be better than to give us the old favourites,—the Fisherman, the Calendars, the King of the Black Isles, Aladdin, Sindbad, and the rest of the familiar company ? We have a pleasing recollection of "Jullanar of the Sea" in Lane's edition, and should have been glad to E00 that lady again. As for Mr. Ford's illustrations, it is difficult to praise them enough. Fairer women, more terrible djins and giants were never put on paper.
