Prosperity's Child. By Eleanore H. Stooke. (R.T.S. 3s. (3d.)— Violet

Wyndham gets by the self-denial of a sister a great oppor- tunity. She goes to a girls' high school, and this is the story of her experiences. Somewhat selfish and fond of enjoyment, she learns many things, especially the meaning of service done for others, as by Dr. Elisabeth, who gives her medical services for little or nothing, and litalvina Medland, the caretaker of poor working women's babies. School, too, brings trials of its own, and lessons which are not to be learnt from books ; and so does the well-ordered home into which she has been taken.
