The "Little Entente " of Czecho-Slovakia, Rumania and Serbia withheld

their ultimatum to Hungary, apparently in deference to the wishes of the Allies. But the threat, backed by the mobilization of the Czech army, sufficed to make the Hun- garian Government hasten to get rid of their prisoner, the ex-Emperor Charles. On Tuesday he was transferred from the monastery of Tihany to safe keeping in a British monitor in the Danube below Budapest. The ex-Emperor, it is stated, had refused to resign his claims to the Iron Crown. The Allies have given the Hungarian Government till Monday to proclaim the exclusion of the Hapsburgs from the Hungarian throne. It is suggested that the troublesome Hapsburg may be interned at Madeira—a very agreeable place of captivity.
