PEACEFUL PICKETING AND BOLSHEVISM.

[TO THE EDITOR OF THE " SPECTATOR."]

SIR,—I do not think it is realized how much of our unemploy. meat is due to the so-called "peaceful picketing." Thousands of middle-aged men, appreciating the difficulties in the indus- trial world, would have found work but they dare not accept any reduction in their wages or extension of their hours of labour, lest in their absence at work their homes should be raided by the peaceful pickets. It is a form of terrorism ready made of which Bolshevists would make good use should they ever get the upper hand, and it should be dealt with by the Government. The Chief Constables of our industrial centres will confirm what I have said.—I am, Sir, &c.,

WILLIAM B. FORROOD (Chairman of County Justices, Lancashire). 1Jromborough Hall, Cheshire.
