SUBURBANITY

SIR,—The point of Mr. Betjeman's suburban drooling frequently escapes me: I am particu- larly baffled by his antithesis (in 'City and Suburban,' September 21) between a 'student' at Oxford or Cambridge and an undergraduate at Oxford or Cambridge. This distinction is unknown at Cambridge, and I should be glad to know what Mr. Betjeman supposes it to be.—Your faithfully, GRAHAM HOUGH
