A dispute of some kind appears to have arisen between

the King of Saxony and the President of the North German Con- federation, and the King for some days threatened abdication. The Prussian War Office, it is reported, insisted that the King should, as Commander-in-Chief, consider himself, or be actually en- titled General of a German division, liable to receive orders from uncrowned but superior officers. He thought himself insulted, and threatened to resign, but has given way on information that any orders he may receive will come from the King-President, though they may be signed by Von Roon.
