He has never spared himself in fighting for the rights of the seaman ; he has won countless victories by reason, persuasion and force of character, and the courage and unfaltering energy with which he carries on his work, though he has for years been a cripple, makes one of the most inspiring examples we know of the conquest of will and character over physical weakness.
