A schoolboy once translated "Caesar captivos sub, corona vendidit " as "Caesar sold the captives for less than five shillings." "Eat enim fmitimus oratori poeta : numeris adstrictiot paullo verborum antem licentia liberior " was' once translates.

"A poet lived next door to an orator : he was a little loose in his talk, but more strict than numbers are." A somewhat ingenious translation of "Delia nudi non ardent Cynici " is "The naked
