We record with much pleasure the fact that the War

Office have decided not to disband Section D Volunteers for the present. As our readers know, we thought that the War Office had acted without due consideration. Apparently the great anxiety about our man- power created by the German onset has convinced them of this. We well understand the War Office point of view that a man who is not fully at their disposal, who has not undertaken every one of the obligations which they would like to exact, is not in any sense a soldier and had better be got rid of altogether. But in such times as these such logic cannot really be defended, because it is impossible to say in any circumstances how many men will be required before the business is done.
