IRELAND.

The National Association continues to hold frequent meetings in Dublin. It is evident from the tone adopted by Mr. Finn, O'Connor Don, Mr. Lawless, and other leaders of the Catholic party, that the policy of conciliation is daily becoming more unpopular in Ireland. Dr. M‘Hale has commenced a prosecution against the Mayo Conti. iutson, for a gross and unfounded libel on his Grace. At the Den?. Assizes, a verdict with 100/. damages was given against Mr. Gore Jones, a Stipendiary Magistrate, to a person whom he had sentenced to imprisonment without due cause.

While the Assize calendars for Kerry and Tipperary exhibit a remarkable decline in the number of offences, the Protestant county of Armagh has furnished unusual employment for the Judges. The crimes are generally of a violent character : according to the Northern Whig, men have been "openly and wantonly assaulted, the county traversed day and night by armed bands—houses wrecked and burned in broad daylight."

Our readers will be gratified to learn, that the long-neglected claims of Mr. William Dodd, whose property was wantonly destroyed by a military party, (in 1798,) are now before the Government, .under the most favourable auspices ; and that, in this instance, the Ministry are likely to justify the confidence reposed in them by Irishmen. —.Dublin Freeman's Journal.
