At a recent meeting of the South Dublin Union, the Guardians passed resolutions expressing their intention to withdraw the Workhouse Schools from all connexion with the National Board, because of the exclusion of certain books from the schools by the Board ; and further appointing com- mittees to set up schools for the separate education of Roman Catholic and Protestant children. The Poor-law Commissioners, last week, remon- strated with the Board, in strong and decided terms ; alleging that the re- solutions, by creating a sectarian spirit, are contrary to the spirit of the Poor-law. The consideration of the letter from the Commissioners was postponed.

The 29th of this month is now named as the day when the Queen is expected in Dublin.

The Lord-Lieutenant returned to Dublin on Monday.

An Irish journal announces that a Provincial Synod will be held at Thurles next month, under the direction of Dr. Slattery. Baron Richards, one of the Commissioners in the Encumbered Estates Court, has fallen into a weak state of health, arising from intense appli- cation to his duties: under medical advice, he has left Ireland for the Pyrenees.
