The Rajah's Legacy. By David Ker. (Griffith, Farran, and Co.)

—Mr. Ker has seen a good deal of the world, and can describe what he has seen with a very graphic pen. This tale has the look of being devised as a string, so to speak, on which to hang some previously manufactured articles. This, indeed, is very cleverly done, and the scenes are brilliant in colour and vigorously drawn. Some of the incidents occur in Wallachia, others in India. Nothing is better in the book than the humorous description of " The Universal Scotchman."
