Colonel Harry D. Jones, of the Royal Engineers. having rendered distinguished service in command of the British' land force at the capture of Bomarsuud, her Ma- jesty has been graciously pleased to order, in pursuance of the Royal warrant of the 6th of October 1854, that he be promoted to be a Major-General, and be placed on the permanent list of general officers.

WAR-OFFICE, Jan. 5.-Two vacancies having occurred in the establishment of General Officers on the effective list of the Royal Artillery, by the retirement of Major-Gens, Crawford and Grant, under the provisions of her Majesty's Warrant of the 3d Nov. 1854, the following promotions 'will take place in consequence, viz : to be Major-Generals-Col.
